Do you know what an FGNES is? ®

You’ve been one at a point in time ... yes don't deny it ;) Are you still an FGNES? Or you are back to normal? Have you met so many FGNES? If so, how many have you met? Are you expecting to see more?!

Dear reader … I’m not blabling lol

Fresh Graduate Newly-Employed Syndrome (FGNES) … this is what it is … I guess we are on the same page now aren’t we ;)
How do you know that a person is an FGNES? Let’s list his/her characteristics:

  • Hyper and Enthusiastic about everything!! You can literally smell and feel the excitement and energy all around
  • On-time ... always … and I mean it when I say ALWAYS!
  • Work alcoholic!! Welling and ready BY ALL MEANS to do anything and everything … and the funny thing is that when there is nothing to do s/he feels sad … R U SERIOUS?!!!!! Lol
And the list can go on and on … u add in

I have been an FGNES, now I have developed to a “UVMEE” … I’ll explain it later

wanna make a guess? ;)

ok I’ll save you the trouble … it’s UnValued-Miserable-Experienced-Employee hehehe
I guess some of you will understand what I mean..

Back to the FGNES...

Wardah” a newly employed sweet girl just joined us a couple of weeks ago, she reminded me of myself when I first got my job ^_^ so happy to finally got the change to join the workforce hoping that one day I will be pointed at with respect and admiration as being one of the best. Everybody dream of that but not everyone gets the chance to be one! I might not be a decision maker in my facility but I can for sure contribute in some of the decisions made … proud and thankful to Allah for his blessings :)

This new gal is so energetic that she makes me wonder … Am I missing so much! I miss fun but thank God I still have my smile … it’s just the fun part that is missing? I never tried to create fun in my work so that I enjoy it all the time! I guess they didn’t teach us that in school!! Is it so important that u have it? How helpful is it? Not that I’m criticizing her, I’m just wondering… if I had the fun part added to my work, would I’ve been what I am now? Again, not that I am the big boss around here, but things get serious when it comes to me! And in her opinion, it’s not fun!!!

I wanted to explain to her that fun isn’t everything but I’m afraid she’s gonna get it all wrong. I thought of telling her that soon you’ll lose your interest and get carried away with the dull routine which will make you wish you get home sooooooon and have the fun there! I came to know that when I had the disease (lol … I call it a disease : p) I wasn’t so resentful and I have accepted the facts … soon I became one of the old warriors in the ever lasting war against “blood sucking jobs” and officially became an UVMEE looool … Your energy gets sucked up and no re-charge is available … you’re gonna have to do it on your own! Can you believe that? Re-charge, get it “gone with the wind” and never expect to be rewarded or appreciated!

Honestly speaking, how many of you hate their jobs?
Sometimes I do actually …“Wardah” believes that is because it’s lacking fun … and speaking of my self, I came to hate my job because it could add absolutely nothing to me!!! I gained a lot there is no way that I’m gonna deny it, but in the last one year and a half I gained nothing! And I have two options, either to join school again and soon or to find a new job!

Don’t worry, I didn’t spell it out to “Wardah” … I don’t wanna destroy her vision and dreams, mmm no no … don’t wanna risk it :(

Cheers
