Eid Al Fitr is like the New Year's Eve to me … it always feels new, fresh, and happy, that's the spirit lol. Even when I'm not fully prepared in terms of new outfits, I always feel HAPPY ^_^
Here are the most common items people make sure to prepare/have for Eid:
- New outfits
- Hair/Make-up style
- Henna (women)
- Sweets – فوالة العيد
- Cash/coins – عيدية
I guess those are the main things, any additional things I forgot?!
Anyway, there are also other extra stuff that people usually do for Eid:
- New furniture/decorations
- Overseas/Local trips … which I don't agree on unless it's for family visits! I wonder why some families travel 1000 miles to celebrate Eid! As if they are running away from s'thing!
The main idea of Eid is to socialize, gather and catch up with your loved ones, and share with them happy moments; all friends and family gather in one house (usually it's their grandparents) … that's for the first day. The second and third day is for friends, usually the ones who are not too close and wouldn't expect to visit you, or you visit them, on the first day.
When Eid days are over we go back to normal, yet with a more civilized and developed personality … the holy days of Ramadan should be the period in which you try to have peace from within … free your soul from the darkness and become acquainted with your environment in a harmonious way … we all get negative feelings which s'times works as barriers and hinders ones interactions and our overall happy living!
Ramadan is a healing phase … Eid is the celebration "I am cured"
Let's not ruin it and start a new life with peace and love
Drop NEGATIVITY … Adopt POSITIVITY (",)
